Brighton boy Kidda is returning to Australia following the still-talked about performance at last year’s Stereosonic Festival. Best known for dropping house beats as well as his own summery tracks, Kidda aka Ste McGregor gets the party started.
Kidda started off his recording career with some underground releases on Brighton label Catskills, but it was when he released his debut album ‘Going Up’ on Skint records that he really hit it off. His album received many prestigious awards such as Album of the Month in DJ magazine, Album of the Week in DMC update and also got top notch reviews in publications like Mixmag, The Sun, Mojo, and Zoo.
Kidda’s track ‘Under The Sun’ was chosen for an international TV ad campaign for Bacardi and became a massive club record when it was remixed by Herve to devastating effect. It received support from prestigious DJs such as Fatboy Slim, Annie Mac, Kissy Sellout, Judge Jules and Dave Spoon and achieved No1 status in the Cool Cuts and DMC Zubb charts. ‘Under The Sun’ also appeared on compilations such as Ministry Of Sound’s The Annual, Gods Kitchen’s Anthems 2009, MOS Addicted to Bass and Herve’s own Ghetto Bass.
Kidda’s opening track ‘Strong Together’ on his debut album “created the ultimate credible, radio-friendly gem; an upbeat, sing-a-along anthem” according to BBC Music Review. He has also had three mixes broadcast on BBC radio such as the Blueroom mix for Chris Coco and Rob Da Bank on Radio 1, a mix for 6 Music’s “6mix” and a mini mix on the Annie Mac show on Radio 1.
Truly an all-round artist, Kidda is not only is he a world renowned DJ, but also a music producer, remixer, songwriter, animator, director, columnist and graphic artist. More recently Kidda has been working on a new album “Hotel Radio” which is set to be released next year on Skint records. According to Kidda, the first few tracks to emerge are sounding joyous and uplifting with massively catchy hooks.
There is no better way to heat things up this winter with Kidda producing his slick and sugary party beats, as well as his mad computer animation – don’t even think about missing out.
