Anoraak (FRA) tours Australia 6-13 March 2010
In late 2007 Anoraak and the Valerie collective became the hottest thing in French. As an integral part of Valerie, Anoraak continues to demonstrate why he’s so highly regarded.
Just who is Anoraak? The name may be misleading but Anoraak, real name Frédéric Rivière, is a French electro artist who hails from Nantes. Anoraak is also part of the famed Valerie collective.
The Frenchman’s sound is best described as a trippy, dreamy ‘80s, synth-inspired disco pop. His notorious synthesizer choices are always deeply influenced by ‘80s pop music.
Yet Anoraak’s source of information is different to the traditional kind of electronic artist. Here he differs as he finds inspiration in videogames, film scores and TV shows of the ‘80s era. It’s a source of information that has proved rich in outputs for Anoraak.
Anoraak creates rich dance music that borrows heavily from yesteryear, but here he succeeds in creating something modern, fresh and entirely captivating. And his tunes all have the one essential ingredient for success: his tunes are damn catchy.
With his flawless production arrangements and popular music, most of the Frenchman’s tracks have been remixed by some of the best artists and producers around. Think of tracks that feature on his mini album Nightdrive with you or even the Make It Better, all are custom Anoraak sounds that deliver his trademark ‘80s synth pop. This tour will pave the way for his forthcoming debut artist album due to release on Bandroom Records in August.
Anoraak’s well versed in Australian music trends. He’s an old AC/DC fan, an admirer of INXS and Midnight Oil and loves Cut Copy, Van She and Miami Horror. He readily admits that he loves the Australian music scene. Lucky for us he’s heading down under with his vast array of influences in tow. This is one Anoraak you can’t live without.
