For some who have been surprised by the seemingly new direction the band have taken with their recently released new album All Night Sun Light, their new single Try It On beckons listeners to do just that… TRY IT ON. Those who do will find the change is a subtle one as Infusion still do what they do best and that is make great hook driven tunes whether it be with a dance, rock and/or pop sensibility.
Try It On is the brand new single off the LP following on the success of 2 Player Game. It is a lively, funky and up beat summer track featuring lilting vocals, sparkly synth arpeggios with soaring orchestral strings and guitars. This single stands out on the album as marking the bands maturity and a willingness to push their own boundaries beyond the dance realm since they released their Aria Award winning album Six Feet Above Yesterday in 2004. Working with an orchestra, film score composers and session musicians, took the track from being a simple dance tune and turned it into a multi-layered, well produced, exquisite soundtrack. Try It On is a great tune for radio and definitely not out of place if heard in a chick flick or a jeans commercial!
Having often been referred to as a band who are “masters at producing intelligent dance music”, Infusion have never been like
a whack on the head…..Their songs seem to take root on first listen. Then slowly and stealthily, gather momentum when their undeniably brilliant and catchy hooks seep throughout ones consciousness, creating an indelible stamp on the psyche. The effect of which has resulted in anything from dancefloor mayhem to considered admiration by fans. An admiration of the intricate balances Infusion strike between grinding rhythmic dance beats, live instrumentation and impassioned rock songwriting.
All Night Sun Light has already been receiving rave reviews in Australia since it’s release.
‘Try It On’ is undoubtedly the record’s most mature song, beautifully embellished with strings, brimming with cascading keyboard licks and sparse, effected guitar, underpinned by ethereal synth pads. If you were looking
for the soundtrack to a rave in a rainforest, ‘Try It On’ would be the anthem to your wilderness party. – Home and Hosed – Triple J
The trio unexpectedly jump on the modern pop bandwagon, generating a sound that happily sits between the strobes and the perspiration of the club world. Living up to their name, the band fuses the lines of genre in the latest album. In the past, such an act moving outside the subculture would have resulted in social music
suicide but so far the fans have eaten it up. – The Daily Telegraph
Infusion are New Order for a post-Daft Punk world, their hi-tech disco slinkiness, atmospheric synths and cracking melodies both utterly “now” and refreshingly timeless. Music for the masses, indeed. – Rave Magazine
With All Night Sun Light, the boys unashamedly set out to amass a collection of songs that are built around melodic hooks, catchy choruses and at times a remarkably overt pop sensibility – In the Mix
Since the release of the album, the band have completed a national tour, playing national festivals to their adoring fans with their dynamic live show. With the imminent release of the album worldwide, the band are getting ready to embark on shows in the US, UK, Asia and Europe early 2010.
